Looking to off-load some of your collection? We’d love to take a look!

What do we buy? We buy Trading Card Games and Comics! All items must be brought into the store, we do not make purchases via photos or list of items.

Below you’ll find the steps we take to purchase your items.

the appraisal

Pricing:

We use Covrprice to price all of the comics we see. That website takes into account the most recent sold prices across websites like My Comic Shop and eBay. It will also flag key issues and tell us pertinent information about the issue. It also shows us every variant cover, making it easy for us to find your exact comic. This helps us to come up with the most precise value for your comics. For cards we look at the fair market price on TCG Player for individual cards, otherwise we offer bulk pricing (see “before bringing in your collection” below for more info.)

Condition:

We look closely at the condition of the comics and cards. A card or comic that looks sharp at a glance might have micro-scratches, edge wear, or spine ticks that affect the grade and the value.

Demand:

We base every offer off of what our store needs at the moment. If you bring in something that someone has been looking for, we may offer a little more, but if you bring in something we have 100 of, we may not buy it at all. We make all of our offers honestly.

the process

Before Bringing Your Collection:

Call the store if you want to make sure that someone will be available to appraise your cards or comics. We’ll be able to give you an exact day and time to bring them by. For cards, you may want to sort through your collection and separate out the cards you believe hold the most value. This will expedite the process for us and help you get the most money for your cards.

Time:

We do our best to give you a true estimate on the time it will take us to evaluate your collection. But sometimes things can distract us, so please wear your patient pants.

Dropping Off:

You are more than welcome to leave your items with us, especially if your collection is quite large. We just ask that you fill out one of our drop-off forms and return to collect your items in a timely manner if we cannot come to an agreement.

Right of Refusal:

We reserve the right to refuse any comics or cards that we don’t deem suitable for our shop. This could come down to demand, condition, or content.

the payment

Store Credit:

Love shopping at Crooked Dog Comics? Maybe store credit would work for you. If you opt for payment in the form of store credit, we add that money to your Comic Hub account and you can use it at any time in our store. Note: we typically offer a little more for your items if you opt for store credit.

Cash:

Prefer to get cash in hand? We can do that too. Once we agree on a price for your items, we will get some information from you and hand you the cash for your items.

the legal stuff

Store Policy:

You must be 18 or older and present a valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID (Driver's License or State ID) to sell or trade with us. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who assumes full responsibility for the transaction. You will also be required to fill out a form, declaring legal possession of the items and that they are not stolen property. This protects us and you. Once you sign the form with the agreed upon purchase amount the transaction is final and cannot be reversed. Also, important to keep in mind that your offer is your offer alone, and may or may not be the same in the future or for others.
